Note(s) | This transcription of a letter from London lawyer John Walker (1763-1830) dated 1809 and addressed to Lady Louisa Conolly is held in the National Library of Ireland. The letter gives her advice re building stone walls, selecting trees, choosing sites and the labour involved planting trees. It provides some insight into the culture and practice of tree-planting in the first decade of the nineteenth century. |
