Note(s) | An essay about Birr Community School designed by Peter and Mary Doyle in 1974 and built in 1980. It contends that architecture for the Doyles related to construction and technology as well as being a response to social needs, but not a form of communication. The school building also reflects the Doyles' approach to design, that buildings should be expandable and flexible. IIt became iconic of the State's modernising educational and economic ambitions. |
