| Note(s) | The author gives an account of the transformation of the area from a rural landscape to an urban developed square during the mid-nineteenth century. Belgrave Square was used as private playing fields by High School until its move to Rathgar in 1961. In 1975 Belgrave Square was acquired by Dublin Corporation as a public amenity for the citizens of Dublin. |
